The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), through its Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC), has officially released the notification for the Scientist B Recruitment 2025. This much-awaited recruitment aims to fill 148 vacancies in various DRDO laboratories and allied institutions, offering a golden opportunity for engineering and science graduates to serve the nation in prestigious technical roles. DRDO Recruitment for Scientist Details

This recruitment is part of DRDO’s continuous efforts to attract the best talent for scientific innovation and research. The selection will be conducted by RAC, and candidates will be appointed as Scientist B, a Group ‘A’ Gazetted post in the central government service. The vacancies are distributed across different organizations associated with DRDO, including ADA, WESEE, CME, AFMC, and SCN/SCC. The application window is strictly open for 21 days, so aspirants are advised not to delay in submitting their applications.

DRDO RECRUITMENT VACANCY DISTRIBUTION

A total of 148 positions are being offered under this recruitment. The majority of the vacancies, i.e., 127 posts, are in DRDO itself. The remaining positions are divided among other organizations such as ADA (9 posts), WESEE (3 posts), CME (3 posts), AFMC (3 posts), and SCN Jalandhar / SCC Bhopal (3 posts). This widespread vacancy distribution allows applicants to be part of varied scientific domains and work in specialized departments dedicated to national defense and innovation.

Educational Qualifications and GATE Requirement

To be eligible for the Scientist B post, candidates must have a first-class Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline of engineering or science. The discipline should align with the subjects mentioned in the detailed official notification. Additionally, it is mandatory for all applicants to have a valid GATE score in the relevant subject. This ensures that the selection remains competitive and merit-based.

Age Limit and Relaxation for Different Categories

The upper age limit for general and EWS candidates is 35 years. However, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) applicants are granted a relaxation up to 38 years, while SC/ST candidates can apply until the age of 40 years. Moreover, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are entitled to an additional 10 years of age relaxation, irrespective of their category. These relaxations are in accordance with government norms to ensure inclusive recruitment.

Application Fee and Payment Mode

Candidates belonging to the General, EWS, and OBC (Male) categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹100. On the other hand, SC, ST, PwBD, and Women candidates across all categories are exempted from paying any application fee. The fee can be paid through various online modes including Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI, and other digital payment options, making the process seamless and accessible.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Applicants must carefully follow the application procedure to avoid disqualification. To begin, candidates should visit the official website at rac.gov.in and click on the “Candidate Login” section. After registering with a valid email ID and mobile number, the applicant needs to fill in all the required details in the online form. Important documents such as a passport-sized photograph, signature, GATE scorecard, and educational certificates should be uploaded in the specified format. After verifying all details, the application fee should be paid online. Lastly, candidates must submit the application and download a copy of the filled form for future reference.

The official notification was released on May 21, 2025. The application process will commence on June 7, 2025, and continue till June 27, 2025, which is also the last date for fee payment.
