Conducted annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA), CUET UG has become the gateway for undergraduate admissions in many top institutions. With recent updates to its exam pattern, marking scheme, and syllabus, it is essential for aspirants to stay informed and adapt their preparation strategies accordingly. This article provides a detailed overview of CUET UG 2025, highlighting important changes and giving insights to help candidates approach the exam with confidence.

CUET UG 2025 Exam Pattern Overview

The exam is structured into three main sections, each designed to evaluate different skill sets. The first section, the Language Test, is divided into two parts: Section IA includes thirteen languages such as Hindi, English, and Assamese, while Section IB covers twenty additional languages including French and Spanish. The questions in this section primarily assess reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar skills. The second section focuses on Domain-Specific Subjects, offering 27 subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and History. Candidates may select up to three subjects in this section, which are based on the NCERT Class 12 syllabus and are in the format of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The third and final section is the General Test, which evaluates general knowledge, current affairs, logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and analytical skills through MCQs.

Exam Duration and Marking Scheme

Each section of the CUET UG 2025 exam has a specified duration to ensure consistency. The Language Test and Domain-Specific Subjects are each allocated 45 minutes, while the General Test is given 60 minutes. The marking scheme awards five marks for every correct answer and deducts one mark for each incorrect response. There is no penalty for unattempted questions. Interestingly, questions with multiple correct answers or dropped/invalid questions are awarded full marks to all candidates, which is a recent update that ensures fairness in scoring.
